Born and raised in Portland and a 5th generation Oregonian, I take pride in my Pacific Northwest roots. I love everything about this part of the world, seasons, the ocean, trees, lakes, high deserts, mountains, valleys, local foods, and drinks. Anytime I travel, I always return more grateful for this magical place I call “home.”
I am the wife of one amazing man and the mother of two beautiful boys. Growing up, I was encouraged to be creative. My parents worked in the arts, my mother, a graphic designer, and my father, a video producer - but I was hesitant about a career in the visual arts. I feared I’d live as a “starving artist, “ and I love to eat.
In college, I studied journalism and creative advertising at the University of Oregon and spent the next four years working in marketing, PR, and graphic design, from the U.S. Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand to freelance work in Portland, Oregon. However, I yearned for more opportunities to express my creativity. I was miserable imagining the rest of my working life sitting behind a computer screen, so I returned to school for a Masters Degree in Education. The following five years were spent teaching Kindergarten, 3rd, and 4th grade in Lake Oswego, Oregon. I was finally passionate about my job and I was able to be creative at the same time!
After I had my first son, my husband and I decided that I would stay at home during our children's early years. It was during these years that I found ways to market my creativity. I opened an Etsy shop, participated in art shows, and now, you’ve discovered my website!
My art is often reflective of the environment I grew up in. I am drawn to the colors, light, trees, animals, and landscapes that encompass the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I enjoyed the road that led me to them.
